A staggering amount of children are afraid to attend school in fear of being bullied. If Your Bothered and You Know It teaches students confidence building strategies to help them stand up for themselves and not tolerate bothersome behaviors that are repetitive and may turn into bullying behaviors. Students are taught 5 ways to stop the bullying before it happens. These strategies are incorporated into a song called If You’re Bothered and You Know it which is based on the popular tune, If You’re Happy and You Know It Clap Your Hands. This book is easy to read and easy for the students to relate to and has follow up activities that correspond with five short stories. Tommy, the main character in this book, is an average looking kid because sometimes, students are bothered because they look average.
Students will enjoy the full color beautifully illustrated stories and will learn specific ways to handle bothersome behaviors.
