Mustang, The Little Do Who Was Afraid

By: Jill Goodman

Oh no! Mustang is scared to go to school. He did not eat and his stomach hurt. He did not want to leave his home to go to a scary new place. But My Lady, his loving caregiver, helped Mustang to use positive self-talk. He learned that school is a fun place to learn and succeed. Mustang learned that he really could do it and that it would be okay if he made some mistakes.

This endearing story of a scared little puppy, Mustang, was written to help children face their fears about school. Many children are afraid of school. Without timely intervention, these fears can escalate into school phobia.

Mustang with its reproducible activities and worksheets will help assist children to learn how to use positive self-talk to overcome any fears they might have about school. In the process, they will learn a valuable skill that will help them overcome other new challenges as they encounter them.
