Caring In Times Of Crisis provides a concrete, "hands-on" approach to developing an effective crisis management plan to address and respond to sudden violence and other traumas impacting the school community. It is a valuable tool for increasing school professionals' knowledge of the protocol, policies and strategies needed in crisis management/postvention work. A prevention "mind-set" is also discussed, along with specific strategies designed to make schools safer places. The manual includes a crisis management checklist, sample announcements, parent/guardian letters, press released, and other helpful forms for crisis management.
